The record names this sitter as Ladislas IV Jagello, but the 1434 death date fits Władysław II Jagiełło, the Lithuanian grand duke who became king of Poland in 1386 after marrying Queen Jadwiga and founding the Jagiellonian dynasty. The caption card gives no date or engraver, so the print's age and origin remain uncertain. Its subject still marks the start of a royal line that ruled Poland and Lithuania for about two centuries.
