Woodrow Wilson, by this date a former president, appears at the White House in a plate made in the summer of 1923, about two and a half years after his term ended in March 1921. The National Photo Company, a Washington firm that documented the city's public life, made many plates like this one. The date comes from a related negative, and the title is company data that has not been verified. Wilson had been left partly disabled by a stroke in 1919 and died in February 1924. Look for the streaks and blemishes on the glass, which reflect the natural breakdown of its original coating.
