Two presidents stand together in this 1913 print, and the record ties the moment to Woodrow Wilson's inauguration on March 4 of that year. Outgoing president William Howard Taft and incoming president Wilson were photographed at the White House that day, the traditional point where the outgoing and incoming presidents met before the ceremony and the transfer of office. The image comes from the National Photo Company, a Washington studio that documented public life in the capital during the 1910s, and it is one of the rare pictures that captures the two men together on the day their roles changed.
