A pilot and co-pilot sit in the cockpit of this military seaplane as it moves across the water, caught either just before takeoff or just after landing, though the record does not say which. The print dates from 1945 to 1947, when wartime seaplanes still flew from island and coastal bases while the armed forces began to shrink. Its dye coupler color process was a fairly new option for photographers of the period, and the catalog's fighter plane tag shows how these aircraft were grouped together in military records.
