The title, Nyatt, comes from unverified information the National Photo Company recorded on the negative or its sleeve, so the subject could be a name, a street, or something else entirely. The National Photo Company worked in many American cities in the early twentieth century, producing large numbers of glass negatives for commercial and promotional use. Herbert A. French gave this example to the Library of Congress in 1947, and its surface shows streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of the original coatings.
