Contented Woman," captioned "Bonnie Lottie," is a color lithograph printed in Cincinnati around 1899 by the U.S. Printing Co., with the Russell-Morgan Print name also noted on the record. Cincinnati was a major center of American commercial color printing in this period, where firms produced large runs of posters and pictures by layering separate colors, each from its own stone or plate. Images of a single, pleasant-looking woman like this one were popular at the time and reflect the era's fondness for idealized portraits of women. The record credits Fred E. Wright with the direction of the work.
