Coney Island's boardwalk and amusement district on the Brooklyn shore drew crowds from across New York City in the early twentieth century, and this print records one of its busy streets around the 1910s. The record gives only a rough date, "ca. 191-," taken from an old caption card, so the exact year is uncertain. In those decades the resort was packed with rides, arcades, and food stands, and streets like this one carried a steady flow of day-trippers. Photographs of the district from this period are useful for seeing how the crowds, storefronts, and street life fit together.
