The Philadelphia Athletics are the team named on this 1910 card, issued by the Nadja Caramel Company as one of its E104 series. Caramel makers slipped cards like this into their packages, which turned a candy wrapper into something children saved and traded. That year the Athletics, managed by Connie Mack, won the American League pennant and went on to take the World Series. The card is a color relief halftone, a printing process that gave early cards their bright, painted look, and it is preserved in the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection.
