Ford's first factory was a rented building on Mack Avenue on Detroit's east side, where the newly incorporated company began building its Model A cars in 1903. The company moved to a larger plant on Piquette Avenue in 1904, so this structure housed its earliest production. The Detroit Publishing Company, which documented the city's growing industries in the early twentieth century, made the original image. This picture is a copy of one of its prints, dated between 1915 and 1925, so it shows the building as it appeared some years after Ford had left it.
