The Ford Motor Company plant in Highland Park, just outside Detroit, is the subject of this 8 x 10 inch glass negative, dated somewhere between 1900 and 1920. The plant opened in 1910, and in 1913 it began using a moving assembly line for the Model T, a change that greatly shortened the time needed to build a car. The negative is part of the Detroit Publishing Company collection and reached the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
