The joke at the center of this poster is in its caption: two "Chin-chin girls" turn out, to one onlooker's surprise, to be a man. Charles H. Yale, whose name heads the sheet, gave the show its title, and the black-and-white lithograph was printed in 1899 by the U.S. Printing Co. of Cincinnati and New York. Posters of the period often leaned on Orientalist stock figures such as geishas and "Chinese" women, which American stage comedy used for exotic display and courtship humor. The disguised-performer gag belongs to the cross-dressing comedy common in the variety and musical theater of the day.
