Busts of Calvin and Grace Coolidge stand at the center of this photograph taken at the National Gallery in Washington, with a man identified as M.W. Dykaar in the record's title. Calvin Coolidge served as president from 1923 to 1929, so the busts reflect the attention given to the sitting president and first lady during those years. The National Photo Company, which documented the capital's buildings, monuments and public life on glass negatives, made the original image. Streaks and blemishes from the aging of the glass coating are visible, so some background details are softer than the main subjects.
