The title points to a Haynes automobile, a make built by the Haynes Automobile Company of Kokomo, Indiana, which Elwood Haynes helped found and which sold cars into the 1920s. The record's title comes from unverified notes written by the National Photo Company, so the identification is a working one. The image survives as an 8 by 6 inch glass negative, dated about 1920 from comparable negatives in the same group. Its record notes streaks and blemishes from deterioration of the original coating, which are worth keeping in mind when judging the image's surface.
