The title "Noma[?] car" is a provisional reading, since the National Photo Company's own label was never fully verified, so the vehicle itself is the most reliable starting point. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio in Washington, D.C., documented the city and its surroundings in the early twentieth century, and its plates capture the cars and streets of that period. Glass negatives like this one were the standard medium of the time, and the streaks and blemishes visible here come from the coating deteriorating over the decades since 1920.
