Set right against the sidewalk at the northeast corner of Christ Church Burial Ground, this grave is close enough that passersby can read its marker from the street. Benjamin Franklin died in Philadelphia in 1790 and was laid to rest beside Deborah, his wife, who had died in 1774. The plain stone, and the coins many visitors leave on it, have made the spot one of the most visited graves in the city, a quiet reminder of the printer and statesman who helped shape the young nation.
