Drawn in India ink over a graphite underdrawing, this cartoon carries the caption "All set for the campaign!" and is dated July 21, 1932. That summer, Roosevelt, then governor of New York, had just won the Democratic presidential nomination at the Chicago convention and was preparing to face Herbert Hoover in the fall election. The record says the drawing was probably published in the *Washington Star*, where single-panel commentary like this used a politician's readiness for a contest as its joke. The sheet also connects to the Library's presidential inaugurations theme, since Roosevelt's 1932 victory led to the first of his four inaugurations.
