This color lithograph by Joseph Keppler ran across pages 130 and 131 of the April 28, 1880, issue of *Puck*, the satirical weekly he helped found. Its catalog tags point to immigration and Uncle Sam, which places it within the national debate over newcomers arriving in the United States at the time. Keppler, a Vienna-born artist, used the magazine's color and caricature to comment on politics, and this sheet is one of the many cartoons he made for it that year.
