All our colours to the mast" is a nautical call to raise every flag at once, and this Rotterdam poster uses it to urge a whole nation into shared effort. Printed by Kühn & Zoon around 1947, it promoted the European Recovery Program, or Marshall Plan, the American aid effort announced that year to help rebuild war-damaged Western European economies, including the Netherlands. Its sailing-ship imagery links the country's seafaring past to hopes for trade and reconstruction.
