A team of eight horses pulling plows across a 300-acre field in Adams County, Washington, sets the scale of this stereograph, whose title gives the pace as 8 acres a day. Around 1907, wheat farming was spreading across the dry country of eastern Washington, and horse teams still did much of the plowing before gasoline tractors became common on farms. Keystone View Company issued cards like this one for home stereoscopes, so the field was meant to be seen in depth by a parlor audience.
