The subject headings for this 1937 silkscreen pair Cincinnati's building trades with education, a combination that points to vocational instruction rather than work scenes alone. The poster was produced under the Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, which employed artists to make inexpensive posters for public notices, classes, and community events. Silkscreen allowed the unit to print bold, flat color in modest runs, and this example bears an April 17, 1937 date stamp on its back. Its record suggests it was meant to encourage working people to seek training in the building trades during the Depression years.
