The Parks exhibition at the International Building in Rockefeller Center, which this poster advertises, was a 1936 showing of New York State park planning and design. The poster was printed in silkscreen, a technique the Federal Art Project's New York workshop used to produce inexpensive, bold-colored posters for public events during the Depression. Its verso bears an April 1937 date stamp, which suggests it passed through the Works Progress Administration's poster distribution network. Such posters were pasted on storefronts, schools, and public buildings, so surviving examples show how the New Deal promoted public recreation and civic art.
