Kilted Highlanders make their way into the 71st Regiment Armory, the New York National Guard headquarters, in this view, a ceremonial arrival of the kind that drew spectators to militia events in the early twentieth century. The record gives no date, but the glass negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, whose press photographs were mostly made between about 1900 and 1920. The title comes from caption information the Bain News Service attached to its negatives, which the Library of Congress notes has not been independently verified.
