A rider balancing with one foot on each of two galloping horses is the central event of this hand-colored lithograph, which the record dates to about 1874. The print was deposited for copyright, a common route for American popular prints of the period, and its title and subjects tie it to bareback riding in the circus ring of the 1870s. Circus lithographs like this one were made to be eye-catching advertisements, so the bright hand coloring and dramatic action were meant to draw a crowd. Today it also documents how such acts were presented to the public.
