This print is a photoprint copyrighted by A. Loeffler of Tompkinsville, on Staten Island, a small commercial maker who sold views of the harbor landmark. The statue, a gift from France designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, was dedicated on Bedloe's Island in 1886 and had quickly become one of the most recognizable sights in New York Harbor. The record gives c1901 as the date, though that information comes from an unverified caption card. Cards like this show how the monument was packaged for visitors and souvenir buyers in the early 1900s.
