Chimpanzees at Bronx Park are the subject here, described on the caption card as "most man like of the apes." The stereograph was issued by the New York firm Underwood & Underwood, which produced paired photographs that formed a three-dimensional view when seen through a stereoscope. The New York Zoological Park in the Bronx was one of the best-known zoos in the country in those years, and cards like this carried views of its animals into homes. The date of about 1914 and the caption wording come from the old card and have not been independently verified.
