Cattle lowering their heads to drink at a stream on the left anchor this wide panoramic view, while riders work the herd across the frame. The print is a photochrom from the Detroit Publishing Company, a process that turned photographs into vivid color lithographs. Made around 1912, it captures cattle work on the open range just as fenced ranches and railroads were reshaping the West. The record suggests the American Southwest, though the specific location is not named.
