This 1914 Bain News Service photograph shows the Buffalo Buffeds and the Brooklyn Tip Tops, two clubs of the Federal League. The record's title gives "Bisons," but the team was the Buffeds, so the catalog has corrected the name. The Federal League was an upstart major league that tried to compete with the National and American Leagues, and it folded after the 1915 season. The flags and advertising signs visible around the field show how ballparks of the era mixed commercial signage with patriotic display on game day.
