Children playing with dolls on Christmas morning is the subject of this stereo card, which the record dates to about 1906. It is a halftone reproduction of an earlier stereoscopic photograph numbered 197, so it was likely part of a numbered series meant for viewing through a stereoscope. Such cards were a common parlor entertainment in the early 1900s, when families looked at three-dimensional scenes of everyday life, travel and holidays. Halftone printing allowed publishers to reproduce photographs cheaply in large runs, which put pictures like this one into many homes.
