Lorenzo Hubbell's trading post at Keams Canyon, in northeastern Arizona, shows a store that served the Hopi and neighboring communities around 1905. Hubbell was one of the best-known traders in the Southwest, and posts like this one were the center of local commerce, where families traded wool, blankets, pottery, and silver for flour, coffee, cloth, and other goods. The record's catalog notes are unverified, but the building and the people gathered around it still show how trade and daily life intersected on the reservation at the turn of the century.
