Saints Peter and John are shown at the moment of healing, the scene from Acts 3 in which the two apostles restore a crippled beggar at the temple gate. The composition follows a design attributed to Raphael, whose tapestry cartoons for the Acts of the Apostles were widely copied after about 1515. This is a chiaroscuro woodcut printed in color from several blocks, a technique developed in Italy and Germany in the early sixteenth century to imitate the tonal range of drawing. The sheet was once part of an album, and its maker is unidentified, which was common for reproductive prints of the period.
