Here the camera turns to the Grand View area of the South Rim, where an overlook gave visitors a sweeping view down into the canyon, and three people stand in the frame to show the scale. Around 1906, the rim was becoming a destination, with the railway reaching the South Rim and stagecoaches carrying tourists out to the points. The ancient cliff dwellings and ruins scattered through the region were drawing growing interest from visitors and early archaeologists alike. The date and the "cliff dwellings" label come from an unverified caption card, so the exact site is worth checking against other records.
