The slogan on this 1919 lithograph, "It sustained him, and it supported the war-time agencies that helped him," makes the soldier's well-being depend on the giving of the folks back home. Issued by the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. as part of its New Era movement, the Victory Fund Campaign asked congregations to pay for the church's wartime welfare work and to carry that support into the postwar years. Artist M. Leone Bracker's design was printed by the American Lithographic Company in New York, and the poster reflects how churches and civic groups appealed to ordinary donors during and just after the war.
