This glass negative is labeled with the name Joseph McReynolds, though the Library of Congress notes that the title was supplied by the National Photo Company and has not been verified. It probably dates from between 1918 and 1928, a period when the company's Washington, D.C., studio produced large numbers of portraits and views. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library in 1947. Look closely and you may see streaks and blemishes, the result of natural deterioration in the original coatings on the glass.
