The title names three people by surname only, Barnhart, Fitziu and Bell, and the record gives no date, so the identification rests on caption cards that the Bain News Service wrote without later verification. George Grantham Bain's New York agency sold news photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s until the 1920s, and its glass negatives, like this 5 by 7 inch or smaller example, were the working format of that trade. Because the names are unconfirmed, the sitters and occasion are best approached through the negative itself and the Library of Congress catalog.
