The only identifying detail for this glass negative is its title, "G. O'Hara," a name the Bain News Service recorded on the negative or its caption card. The record gives no date and the title is unverified, so the sitter's identity is unconfirmed. Bain's agency, founded in New York around 1899, sold news photographs to newspapers, and its glass negatives from the early 1900s through the 1910s capture the city's working life, public events and personalities. Such caption-based names are often the only clue left, and they are worth checking against the Library's catalog and related Bain records.
