The line beneath the title tells visitors where to find the artist, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, at Palazzo Tomati on Strada Felice, a short walk from the Trinità dei Monti steps. The etching serves as the frontispiece to the second volume of his *Vedute di Roma*, a series of views of Rome's churches, piazzas and ancient ruins that made him one of the best-known printmakers of his day. Its subject tags point to the temples and archaeological sites that drew travelers and collectors to the city in the late 1740s.
