Rather than a candid snapshot, this print reproduces a 1940 painting by David Immerman that shows Franklin D. Roosevelt in bust length at a desk, turned slightly to the left, with radio microphones before him. Roosevelt relied on radio more than any president before him, and his fireside chats reached households across the country. The catalog date of April 25, 1945, is marked unverified, and it falls after his death on April 12 of that year, so it likely reflects when the copy was catalogued rather than when the image was made.
