Among the many WPA theater posters, this 1936 example stands out for advertising a Yiddish-language production in Los Angeles, *The Treasure* by David Pinski, directed by Adolph Freeman. Pinski was a major Yiddish playwright whose works were staged widely in immigrant theaters, and the production ran under the Federal theater Project, the New Deal program that employed out-of-work theater people across the country. The silkscreen print is a reminder that the project's Yiddish units reached audiences well beyond New York, and that the Los Angeles company was part of that broader effort.
