This wide view shows a town spread along the high ground above a river, with a range of hills rising behind it and filling the far edge of the frame. Panoramic photographs like this became popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when makers either joined several exposures into one long print or used special rotating cameras to capture a full sweep of the landscape.
