Printed in German rather than English, this tall, narrow sheet advertises Barnum & Bailey's show to audiences on the Continent, and its subtitle, "Vogel-Perspective" (bird's-eye view), promises a panorama of the whole enterprise. Strobridge Lithographing Company, a firm based in Cincinnati and New York, produced it in 1900, and the company was known for the bold color posters that circuses used to announce their arrival. The catalog lists Hamburg as a subject, which points to the German port city as a place the show visited or intended to reach. Posters like this were pasted on walls and hoardings ahead of the show, and their large size was meant to convey the scale of the spectacle before anyone bought a ticket.
