Few images on this board show a specific engineering landmark as directly as this 1937 poster, which presents the Storström Bridge (Storstrømsbroen) over the Storstrøm strait between Zealand and Falster. The bridge was a major new link when it opened that year, carrying both rail and road traffic across the water and shortening the trip between Copenhagen and the southern islands. Printed in Denmark by Andreasen & Lachmann and designed by Aage Rasmussen, the poster was made to attract visitors to Denmark during the 1930s, when rail and tourism promotion often went hand in hand. Its bold color and simplified forms reflect the modern graphic style of the period.
