Shot as a panoramic strip 36 inches wide, this 1911 view of the Brooklyn club let the photographer fit an entire roster into one frame. The print is credited to Charles E. Stacy, and its deposit with the U.S. Copyright Office on April 1, 1911 points to a commercial team photograph meant to be protected and sold. In 1911 the club was known as the Superbas, a name it kept until the Dodgers nickname took hold in the 1930s. The uniforms and the carefully arranged rows show how team portraits were staged in the early twentieth century.
