The title page of *Cock Robin's Death and Funeral* opens a ten-page chapbook printed in Boston in 1780, a funeral procession retelling of the old nursery rhyme about a robin's murder. Small, inexpensive pamphlets like this were a common way for children and families to read in late eighteenth-century America, when printers in Boston and other towns turned traditional rhymes into short verse stories with simple woodcuts. The title page sets the tone for the whole pamphlet, and it survives here as a copy negative made from the original, which is why it is worth a closer look.
