Few posters from wartime Havana announce a festival as directly as this one, which ties its title to the February and March 1941 carnival season. The lithograph, printed in color by the Havana firm Artes Graficas, S.A., uses the mask as its central subject, a motif that recalls the costumed revelry of Cuba's carnival. Havana's celebrations drew on African, Spanish, and creole traditions, and by the 1940s the street parades, dance groups, and masquerades had become a major public event. Posters like this one helped promote the season to residents and visitors alike.
