Unlike most wartime posters, this one carries no picture at all: its only message is a direct instruction that every man and woman should read a pamphlet called *Why we must save and how*. Dated 1915, it belongs to Britain's early effort to pay for the war by borrowing from ordinary households, not just from banks and wealthy investors. Campaigns like this one encouraged people to treat small savings and government bonds as a patriotic duty, and the pamphlet was meant to explain both the reasons and the practical steps. The plain, text-led design suits that sober appeal.
