Printed in Valencia in 1937, this color lithograph carries an excerpt from a speech by Juan Negrín, who had become prime minister of the Spanish Republic that May, and its text urges viewers to grasp what the work signifies. The imprint credits Ortega as printer and names the UGT and CNT, the two major trade-union confederations, as controlling bodies, a reminder that Republican propaganda was often produced under union auspices. Valencia served as the Republic's seat of government for much of the war's first year, so the poster reflects the wartime effort to rally soldiers and civilians behind the government's cause.
