This map shows Washington's Mount Vernon estate laid out as a working agricultural landscape, with its fields and farm divisions drawn to a scale of 1:6,336. It was copied from a drawing Washington himself sent to Arthur Young, the English agriculturist whose journal, *Annals of Agriculture*, followed farming innovations across Britain and Europe. The two men corresponded at length about crop rotation, soil management, and estate organization, and the map was published as a plate in *Letters from His Excellency George Washington, to Arthur Young*, printed in London around 1801, after Washington's death in 1799. The plate offers a rare look at how a Virginia planter understood and managed his land.
