Holland Bennett is the name attached to this 1909 glass negative, and the Notman studio in Boston is credited as its maker. Notman was a photography firm founded in Montreal that opened branches in other cities, and its portrait work was widely reproduced in the early twentieth century. The George Grantham Bain Collection, which holds the plate, grew out of a New York news picture agency, so the caption likely reflects that agency's cataloguing rather than the photographer's own notes. The catalogers marked the title as unverified, so the name is best treated as a lead for further research rather than settled fact.
