Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin leads the names in this glass negative, the German pioneer whose rigid airships gave his name to a whole class of craft. The title also lists Colonel Schmiedcke and Professor Heigesell, though the record gives no date and these names come from unverified caption information left by the Bain News Service. Zeppelin's airships drew wide press attention in the early 1900s, and Bain's agency photographed many such newsworthy figures, so the group most likely marks a public occasion.
