Taken in Philadelphia on October 27, 1944, this photograph shows Franklin D. Roosevelt in the final stretch of his campaign for a fourth term. He faced Republican Thomas E. Dewey, and the election was only about ten days away, so the president's public appearances drew close attention. The date and place come from an old caption card that has not been independently verified, so treat those details as provisional. The picture still offers a glimpse of a wartime campaign that ended with Roosevelt's reelection.
